The Barnsbury Road Border Project

Next summer we're hoping for flowers!

We’ve started a big project in December – planting between the orange roses in shrub border along Barnsbury Road.  Undaunted by wintery weather, volunteers have planted almost a quarter of the border (in two sections at either end) with 185 shade-tolerant plants to flower at different times of year. The wet weather this autumn has made it a good time to plant – moisture should give the roots a head start.

The Barnbury Road border measures a seemingly endless 110 metres in length. The plants have been chosen to provide something pleasant to look at across the seasons for those who walk by. The aim is to complete the border as an ongoing project. This will also allow us to see what does best under the trees – we are hoping for some flowers! The planting has been funded by a grant from the Council’s Ward Partnership and Greenspace, the park department.
