Caribbean cookery by Daisy’s Dutchpot

It’s our third year! A pop-up cafe will open near the main park entrance off Copenhagen Street every Sunday from May 25 – June 15.  We will again be working in partnership with the Adventure Playground.  The cafe open 11am – 4pm will serve coffee, tea and ice cream from Ruby Violet. Enjoy coal barbecued Caribbean food from Daisy’s Dutchpot, Barnsbury Road.

Every Sunday there will be different free activities for all.  Everyone is welcome! Here is our schedule so far:

May 25: Kids Big Play Day:  Go for gold: Childrens Olympics and new activities for kids under six 11-3:30pm.  Adventure Playground Play Day 11-3:30pm.  Children ages 6-13 only.  All children under 10 must be with an adult.

June 1:  Pets and Vets, Cricket:  Scruffs dog event 12:30-3pm.  Q&A 12:30 Park Patrol dog handlers, free micro-chipping.  Scruffs dog contest fun 1-3pm.  Free advice from Zasman veterinary team, Liverpool Road.  Street Cricket for all ages 1 – 3:30pm.

June 8: Performance, Boules:  Harriette and the Singalong Band 11am.  Young Actors Theatre, Songs from Islington – The Opera 2pm.  Petanque in the Park, Turn up and Play Boules, 11 – 4pm.

June 15:  Open Squares, Local History, Football:  Open Squares park garden tours 11-4pm.  Park History Photo Show: WWII bombing, prefabs to today.  Presentations:  Life in a Barnard Park Prefab, Raymond Watts, 2pm, Islington Housing Today, Cllr. James Murray 2:30pm. Five-a-side football, Open Competition, 1-4pm.  Ages 7-12.
